Thirty-Two Years of Faithful Fire: Holy David Missionary

Something About Fire: Holy David Missionary Baptist Celebrates it’s 32nd Anniversary

On Sunday, June 28th, Holy David M. B. Church, located at 5731 S. Wentworth in Chicago, gathered to honor a milestone three decades in the making — the 32nd Year Anniversary. The celebration carried a theme as fitting as it was fiery: Something About Fire, drawn from Jeremiah 20:9–15.

The scripture itself speaks to a prophet who tried to hold back the word of God, only to find it burning like fire shut up in his bones — a powerful image for a pastor whose ministry has spanned 32 years of faithful, unrelenting service.

The celebration brought together respected voices from across the Chicago faith community. Rev. Michael Dangerfield of Jerusalem Baptist Church served as the guest preacher for the occasion, bringing a message that honored both the theme and the milestone being celebrated.

Also in attendance was Rev. Dr. Leonard Deville, pastor of Alpha Temple M.B. Church, located at 6701 S. Emerald Avenue in Chicago — joining the congregation in fellowship to celebrate the enduring leadership of Pastor Cotton and First Lady Cotton.

For over three decades, Pastor James D. Cotton and First Lady Debra Cotton have led Holy David Missionary Baptist Church with a passion that has never dimmed. Like the fire described in Jeremiah, theirs is a ministry that could not be contained — one that has continued to burn bright through every season of church life.

Thirty-two years is no small testimony. It is a reflection of commitment, perseverance, and a calling that refused to be silenced.

Congratulations, Holy David M. B. Church for 32 remarkable years of saving souls.
