BSICS, Barbara A. Sizemore Academy, a K-8 Chicago Public School located at 6547 S. Stewart in the heart of the Englewood community, was recently honored by God’s Gift Ministries, 6549 S Halsted St, in Chicago for its strong leadership, respectful students, and committed staff.
During graduation on Thursday, June 5th, the school’s entire team—including teachers, custodians, office staff, and lunchroom workers—received Certificates of Appreciation and gifts like gas cards. Several graduating 8th-grade students were also given electronic tablets to support their future studies.
“I presented electronic tablets to 4 grads who desperately needed help,” said Pastor Appleberry.
Barbara A. Sizemore Academy was praised for its well-rounded and respectful students and a leadership team that shows strength in social awareness and academic guidance. God’s Gift Ministries adopted the 2025 graduating class of 32 students, committing to supporting them as they transition to high school and beyond.
The event highlighted the importance of investing in youth and recognized the unique culture of respect at Sizemore Academy, where female teachers are lovingly addressed with the prefix “Momma.”
“I am an educator who has taught in CPS as a 1099 contractor, working with students, parents, and private schools.”
This celebration reflects the power of community partnerships in uplifting schools and preparing students for lifelong success.
Pastor Appleberry announced that this event will be one of their annual initiatives to provide support, alongside their yearly donation to the GLOBAL GIRLS Youth Organization.
“I give a special thank you to GGM Senior Global Administrator Teacher Sallie Spratt, as she truly made all of this possible, along with the Rev. Roger L. Hood,” explained Pastor Appleberry.
