Pleasant Green MB Church’s 100-Year Journey Continues with Pastor Posley’s 3rd Anniversary

On Sunday, October 25th, Pastor Gregory T. Posley and First Lady Lana Posley celebrated their third anniversary at Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church, 140-46 W. 59th St., Chicago, Illinois. The milestone marks another chapter in the church’s 100-year journey of faith.

The celebration began on Friday, October 23rd, with Rev. Richard T. Patterson of Zion Hill MBC. It continued Sunday morning with Pastor Johnnie M. Green of Mt. Nebo MBC (Harlem), and the afternoon service featured Rev. Jarvis J. Hanson of New Nazareth MBC.

Pastor Posley said each service lifted the congregation higher. “Friday night’s service was good, no doubt. Rev. Patterson brought the smoke that night,” he said. “When you thought it couldn’t get any better, Pastor Green had this morning service lit. But my, my God, Pastor Hanson, my pastor, brought the fire this afternoon to Pleasant Green.”

Midway through the celebration, a puppet presentation coordinated by Sister Carolyn Brown honored Pastor Posley’s love and dedication to Pleasant Green.

Rev. Dr. Ray C. Bonney, pastor emeritus, introduced the afternoon speaker with a warning:

Pastor Hanson reminded the congregation that purpose doesn’t require explanation. “You ain’t got to explain it because God put it on. People get upset because they don’t understand favor. God predestined this journey for Pastor Posley,” he said.

He also spoke to the pastor’s path, noting that no one stays where they started. “You have not always been where you are now. People get built and forget about how broken you once were,” he said. “I see today God has taken Pastor on a journey everybody cannot handle. Because as a pastor, you’ve got to have faith to be in this business.”
