Proviso MBC leader receives episcopal consecration and ordination in Maywood
On Friday, February 28th, the faith community gathered at Proviso Missionary Baptist Church, 1116 S. 5th Avenue in Maywood, IL, to witness the Episcopal Consecration and Ordination Ceremony elevating Pastor John F. Harrell to the office of Bishop.

The ceremony was led by Chief Consecrator Chief Apostle Dr. William McCoy of Brothers Keeper Church in Chicago Heights, with Arch Bishop Allen B. Graves of Stamford, Connecticut, serving as Co-Consecrator.
The gathering drew significant attendance from both the faith community and political leadership. Among the dignitaries present were Congressman Danny K. Davis, Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas, and City of Chicago Treasure Melissa Conyears-Ervin, and others.
Numerous clergy members also attended to show their support, including Pastor Gwen AppleBerry, Pastor Mack McCollum, Bishop Charles Wright, Pastor Leon Miller, and Minister Gator, among many others.

The event represented a public affirmation and anointing of the work Pastor Harrell had already begun as a spiritual leader. Family, friends, members of the faith community, and civic leaders came together to celebrate his elevation, recognizing the pastoral and episcopal calling Bisho John Harrell had been demonstrating through his ministry.
The consecration ceremony marks a significant milestone in Bishop Harrell’s spiritual journey and leadership at Proviso MBC, where he will continue serving the Maywood community with expanded authority and responsibility within the body of Christ.
