Picking up the mantle begun by the late Henry English, Carolyn Day, executive director of the Black United Fund of Illinois, Inc. (BUFI), is hosting a 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, September 9, 2023, major “Casino Night & Concert” fundraiser for the 38-year-old civil rights organization whose motto is, “Helping People Help Themselves.”
Having weathered through COVID-19, this is a major fundraiser and a different one for BUFI, which is located at 1809 E. 71st St., in the South Shore community with its tenacles of services reaching as far Rockford and Springfield Illinois.
