On Sunday, October 20th, the historic Mt. Pisgah MB Church, located at 4600 South King Drive in Chicago, Illinois, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. E.F. Ledbetter III, held its annual Men’s and Women’s Day service. The theme for the day was “Trusting God In… Forward Movement,” with the inspiring message centered around Psalm 28:7.
The special guest pastor for the day was Elder Todd Harris of Bright Star Church Chicago. Elder Harris delivered a powerful sermon based on the King James Version of the Bible, specifically focusing on John Chapter 5. His message resonated with the congregation, providing spiritual guidance and encouragement for the journey ahead.
“Let’s discuss the topic of culture. The text talks about a determined man who realized that something in his life needed to improve. He was tired of feeling worn out and cornered by life’s challenges. He tried various methods to fill the void in his life, such as the 12 steps, counseling, drinking, and seeking support from friends, but he ultimately recognized that only Jesus could bring about the breakthrough he needed. The text emphasizes that God and Jesus are the only ones who can help put our lives back together,” Elder Harris said.
According to Elder Harris, people are like mosaic art. “Do you know what a mosaic is? Well, for those who don’t, a mosaic is a compilation of broken pieces. Our lives are like bitty small, tiny fragments of what was once whole. God, the masterpiece maker, takes these small fragments and creates another beautiful picture. I want to tell you that’s what God is doing with your life. He takes all the bad times, all the frustrating times, times when you were as broken as you could be, and he joins together all of your hardships to make you who you are today.”
TJ provided, “today’s event was wonderful. It is about serving the community, and most importantly, giving God the praise. So this is not only just an anniversary for Men and Women’s Day, but this is an anniversary for our church as well. I want to thank our women’s ministry, President Jasmine Thompson.”
In conclusion, Pastor Dr. Ledbetter expressed gratitude to the audience. I have a deep affection for Mt. Pisgah Nation. I hope that this will be the most outstanding week of your life. I aim to greet every one of you.
